Summary

You will develop and implement a scalable data strategy aligned with business goals. Lead and mentor a data team, fostering a data-driven culture. Build, maintain, and oversee a sustainability data infrastructure, ensuring data availability and reliability. Collaborate cross-functionally to transform raw data into sellable strategic insights that shape decisions for global leaders in sustainability. Establish protocols to maintain data quality, compliance and security. Stay updated on industry trends to implement innovative technologies. Spearhead the integration of a vast network of data sources and partnerships — making our platform the most comprehensive, accurate, and widely used sustainability database on the market. 

What will you do?

Data strategy development: develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the business goals and objectives. Remain flexible to update and recreate data strategy based on market dynamics and client feedback
Data entry team management: build and manage a team of data entry specialists. Our team is young and full of potential: they need coaching, guidance, and structure to reach performance and quality goals. You will lead them to complete technical projects on time and with high quality, hitting agreed upload and refresh targets
Data integration leadership: oversee and enhance the integration of multiple external data partnerships into our platform, ensuring we remain the best in class across data quality, KPI depth, company coverage, and real-time relevance to market demands
Data analytics team management: build, coach, and manage a team of data professionals to deliver bespoke insights at scale, both on a recurring basis and for ad hoc industry deep dives
Data quality management: ensure the accuracy, completeness and reliability of data to maintain 99%+ accuracy rate over the database. oversee initiatives to improve data quality, including data cleansing, validation and enrichment processes
Data governance and compliance: establish and enforce policies, procedures and controls to ensure the integrity, security and privacy of data assets. Work closely with our tech team and lawyers to ensure our data practices adhere to regulatory requirements and best practices befitting a sustainability industry leader
Data architecture and infrastructure: design, build, and maintain the organization’s data architecture and infrastructure, starting with maintaining and expanding our proprietary database. Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, platforms and tools to support data ingestion, storage, processing and analysis needs to ensure platform is quick to scale while minimizing data processing lag time and costs
Algorithm development: develop bespoke algorithms to monitor for content updates across companies and KPIs in our database, such as algorithms for monitoring when individuals from a predefined list of contacts have changed jobs, leveraging Google and other resources to ensure timely updates
Data estimation & innovation: after a first period focused on building the infrastructure and integrating data from difference course, lead the creation of new sustainability KPIs and estimation models to fill market gaps, also exploring animation of data  to maintain relevance (e.g., live sustainability data updates triggered by relevant external events)

What are we looking for?

Experience - 3+ years in as a data leader in another organization
Technical skills - strong proficiency in data infrastructure, scraping and data analysis script languages:  SQL, Python. Understanding of data management concepts (incl. data modeling, data warehousing and governance). Prior experience with running data migrations, devops experience is a strong plus.
Team management - ability to lead and manage a large scale data entry and data analytics team to support with set up, troubleshooting, and output
Reliability - immediately assume key responsibilities from Day 1, evidencing your dependability and capability in essential roles
Collaboration - ability to work closely with Product, Tech, Media, and Sales teams to plan and (re)prioritize work according to what is most urgent and important
Operational discipline – work with high attention to detail and respect for delivery deadlines, contributing to a culture of accountability and alignment with business priorities
English skills - strong English speaking and writing skills
